Is a will all you need for Estate Planning?
Too many people believe that estate planning is nothing more than having a will. Maybe that is all you need, but maybe not. What if you have a small business that needs to be passed on upon your death? What about a basic trust for your children to avoid a guardianship or that allows assets to remain in trust beyond the age of 18? What provision will you make for a child or beneficiary with a disability? How does the estate tax, or lack thereof, affect your estate? Do you have bank accounts or life insurance with named beneficiaries? If so, does your will have any effect on those assets? These are just some of the basic issues that an attorney can discuss with you to make certain that your family members are not faced with uncertainty upon your passing.
