Juvenile Offenses

North Texas Juvenile Criminal Defense

Kids make mistakes. They make poor decisions sometimes. Occasionally, those choices land them in trouble with the law. What those choices should not do is condemn them to a lifetime of second-class citizenship.

At Albin | Harrison | Roach, we believe that the mistakes of youth should not be used to punish juveniles in ways that fundamentally limit their chances for a better future. Because of that, we work very hard to protect the rights of juveniles and to minimize the long-term negative effects that a criminal conviction can have on their lives.

As a firm, we provide representation in both the adult and juvenile court systems of Collin County, Denton County and the surrounding counties in North Texas, and we handle misdemeanor and felony cases of all types, including charges of theft, vandalism, drunk driving, assault, sexual assault and drug offenses. We also assist clients with the process of having their juvenile records sealed or obtaining an expunction.

Protecting Your Child's Future

A juvenile who is convicted of even what some people might consider a "minor" offense such as petty theft or underage drinking — can suffer serious long-term consequences as a result. Knowing that, we take a proactive, aggressive approach to defending our juvenile clients and to securing the best possible disposition in each and every case.

Our primary goal is to get the charges dropped or dismissed by vigorously challenging the evidence and the state's case against our client. When that is not a realistic option, our familiarity with the juvenile justice systems of North Texas often helps us to get charges reduced and more favorable sentencing options — such as placement in a diversion program — imposed instead of serious time at a Texas Youth Commission facility.

Last, in cases that involve very serious types of charges and attempts by the state to have the charges prosecuted in adult criminal court — we fight vigorously to keep our clients' cases where they belong.

Attorney and Contact Information

Attorney Manuel Gonzales is among the roughly one percent of attorneys statewide who are board-certified in criminal law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Mr. Gonzales also practices family law — the area of Texas law that actually governs juvenile criminal cases.
