Domestic Violence

North Texas Domestic
Violence Defense Lawyer

If law enforcement is called to the scene of an alleged incident of domestic violence, it is very likely that someone will be arrested — even if it was all just truly a misunderstanding. Unfortunately, many people who find themselves in a situation like this find the temptation to try to explain away what happened to the police or prosecutor — just too great.

Take our word for it: Trying to explain things on your own, without an attorney, is probably the single worst mistake you can make right now.

Allow Albin | Harrison | Roach to speak for you. We are based in Collin County but provide strong, proactive domestic violence defense on behalf of individuals throughout North Texas. We vigorously defend clients who have been charged with misdemeanor and felony offenses, including restraining order violations, and those who have been falsely accused of these crimes. We also represent clients in civil restraining order hearings.

Domestic Violence Defined

In the eyes of the law, domestic violence is not something that happens only between a husband and a wife. In fact, a crime of domestic violence can happen in the context of almost any relationship, including relationships between dating interests, former spouses, ex-partners, roommates, members of the extended family and between parents and children as well.

It is also important to recognize that aside from younger children — anyone can be charged as the abuser, even an adolescent.

The last important point to make about domestic violence is that physical violence is only one form of it. The legal definition is much broader and includes verbal threats, harassment, destroying property, stalking, emotional cruelty and sexual abuse as well.
